Design and Art Direction
Personal Gardening App
Concept, Art Direction, Product Design
Juggling a growing hobby (pun 100% intended), I needed a better way to organize the plants in our yard and track how sunlight and shade moved across it. Overwhelmed by the amount of plant information online and how inconsistently it was structured, I designed a personal app that prioritizes only the details I actually need. It now serves as an easy reference for what we already have, especially when I’m standing in a garden center deciding what to bring home next.
A Campaign for Butterfly-Friendly Gardening
Concept, Art Direction, Copywriting, Design, Illustration
I conceived and created this butterfly gardening campaign as a side project, developing the concept, messaging, and visual direction from the ground up. I wrote every headline and subhead, ideated and sketched the illustrations, and used AI to render the final images from my creative direction. The campaign pairs humor and approachable visuals with practical guidance on planting host plants, avoiding pesticides, and providing food and shelter for butterflies and other pollinators.
Envisioning the Seasons
Concept, Product Design, AI
Reading about the changing seasons in a different part of the country is one thing, experiencing it first hand is another. What if you could better envision what the changing season would be like at a home that’s in a different climate than you? Thinking about moving to the New England where the snow is deep? Or Arizona where the something something? This is for you.
The 15th Amendment, Reimagined for Social
Concept, Art Direction, Copywriting, Illustration
Challenge
National Museum of African American History & Culture (NMAAHC) wanted to explore new ways of bringing museum storytelling to social media, where content needed to be concise, engaging, and easy to consume. The challenge was translating complex and sensitive subject matter around slavery, freedom, and voting rights into a format that felt approachable without oversimplifying its meaning or historical significance.
My role
I led the campaign’s ideation, illustration, design, and copywriting, working closely with the museum’s digital team to adapt curated content about the 15th Amendment for social channels. I developed an approach that used animation and bite-sized storytelling to make the material more accessible while maintaining the care and respect the subject required.
Outcome
The work helped NMAAHC see social media as a more attainable and flexible storytelling platform. The concepts demonstrated how historically complex content could be thoughtfully adapted into engaging digital formats, opening up new possibilities for how the museum could use animation, short-form content, and social channels going forward.
Aligning Around the Future of Digital Humanities
Concept, Workshop Facilitation, Art Direction, Illustration, Design
Challenge
National Museum of African American History & Culture’s (NMAAHC) Office of Curatorial Affairs wanted to define what digital humanities meant within the context of the museum’s unique mission and clarify how it could shape the department’s future work. The challenge was turning a broad, evolving practice into a shared vision, guiding principles, and actionable direction that could align the team and support long-term planning.
My role
With my team, I led research, synthesis, and collaborative workshops to shape NMAAHC’s digital humanities strategy, then translated the mission, vision, and guiding principles into a cohesive set of illustrations that made the ideas tangible and easier to socialize across the organization.
Outcome
The work created alignment around a shared mission, vision, and set of guiding principles for digital humanities at NMAAHC. It also gave the department a clear, cohesive way to communicate and campaign that vision across the organization, helping build understanding, engagement, and momentum around the work.
Subway Rewards Vision Video
Concept, Art Direction, Illustration, Storytelling
Challenge
Subway was introducing a new rewards program designed to deepen loyalty with existing customers while giving people more reasons to choose Subway in their everyday routines. We were tasked with bringing that vision to life through an animated story that made the program feel useful, relatable, and easy to understand.
My role
I partnered with a content designer, illustrator, and animator to develop the concept and storyboard, following a family of four as they used Subway Rewards throughout a busy weekend. I helped shape the narrative and created the illustration system and visual assets that were ultimately brought to life through animation.
Austin Studio Identity
Concept, Illustration
Fjord’s 36 studios were part of one global design network, but it could be difficult to tell where people were based in day-to-day communication. As part of an initiative to give each studio its own expression within the Fjord identity, I created Austin’s mark using the “O” in Fjord. Inspired by Austin’s eccentric character and the constantly evolving nature of technology, the fluid of a lava lamp became a fitting visual metaphor for the studio.
Studio Wall Mural
Concept, Illustration
I designed a custom mural for Fjord Austin’s kitchen and lobby that blended the studio’s global design identity with a sense of place while nodding both to the innovation work happening inside the studio and to its Austin, Texas roots.
Texas Holiday Greeting Cards
CEO / Founder, Art Direction, Illustration
Carddy was created with the mission of capturing the quirky spirit of the holiday season in Austin and the greater surrounding Central Texas area. Cards were sold at several popular holiday markets around the city as well as a brick and mortar store.
SXSW Cares
On March 14, Austin experienced a tragedy felt around the world. As a way to contribute to the SXSW Cares Fund, this graphic was created to bring awareness to the tragedy and encourage people to donate. The graphic was composed to be easily shared across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Soon after, a fundraiser was initiated selling t-shirts featuring the graphic.
